Recovery Programmes
In the middle of the last Century a German physicist, Dr Manfred Von Ardenne, discovered the amazing curative effects of what he described as "Multi Step Oxygen Therapy". Over the years Von Ardenne's original research has become known as EWOT – Exercise With Oxygen Therapy.
EWOT is different to any other form of Oxygen therapy, including Oxygen Bars, Hyperbaric Chambers, and the type of medical oxygen therapy given to patients suffering certain illnesses. When you exercise, even very mildly, the fine capillaries in the depths of your muscles, skin, organs and brain open up, allowing more blood to access those usually dormant nooks and crannies. More blood means more oxygen getting to cells that may not be receiving much. Without oxygen our cells die, become disabled, or mutate. More blood also allows waste products and toxins to be removed from cells and transported to the liver and kidneys for elimination. One of the most important benefits of exercise is this very fact!
When we do this with EWOT we are sending oxygen enriched blood to those nooks and crannies. Because the blood is oxygen enriched and we are exercising with an elevated heart rate, we actually pressurize the system to literally force more oxygen into our cells. Flooding all those sleepy cells in our body with oxygen has amazing benefits across a wide range of applications in everyday people's lives!
EWOT delivers the most advanced application of EWOT, using a large oxygen reservoir bag and the ability to add contrast between high oxygen and low oxygen. Everyone who tries the system, even just once, can feel the immediate benefits, which include decreased fatigue, mental clarity, and high energy levels.
EWOT Athletic Performance Benefits
Elite athletes can benefit from faster recovery, higher workload tolerance, improved oxygen uptake, and improved mental acuity when using EWOT as part of their training and in competition regime.
EWOT Anti-Aging Benefits
As we get older the tendency is to slow down. This results in less oxygen getting into your cells. EWOT can radically change cellular oxygenation leaving you feeling, and looking, years younger.
EWOT Fitness Benefits
Just 15 minutes of contrast training with EWOT gives all the beneficial fitness effects of an hour of intense workout. Excellent results can be achieved at any level of current fitness.
EWOT Health Benefits
The benefits of improved oxygen circulation can be attained by everyone, regardless of current illness or injury. In fact, EWOT speeds up recovery and strengthens the immune system.
Diabetes Management
At PHD, we recognise the importance of glycaemic control and an individual's health status; and hence re-establishing this homeostasis forms an integral part of all our programmes. We however approach this holistically, keeping in mind other contributing factors such as genetic disposition, familial history, micronutrient deficiencies, thyroid and hormonal dysfunction and body composition.
Current research has proven that diabetes is a metabolic condition and hence treatment methods must involve rectifying all underlying metabolic contributors before relying on pharmaceuticals to improve glycaemic control. This involves a thorough screening of biochemical parameters, body composition analysis and a comprehensive symptom profile investigation. Based on these results, personalised programmes are created which include lifestyle and dietary modification and the incorporation of a fitness regime to bring about positive changes in glycaemic control.
With both pre-diabetics and diabetics we focus on improving glycaemic control and insulin sensitivity however the treatment objectives do vary. In the case of pre-diabetics, our main aim is to eliminate the risk of developing diabetes and with diabetics, our main is to reduce dependency on insulin and other gluco-protective medication. It is important to mention that the degree of intervention does vary based on the severity of the condition.
Our ultimate goal is to control diabetes through scientifically backed protocols that improve one's quality of life and reduce the dependency on pharmaceutical drugs.
Our diabetes programme focusses on lifestyle modification through changes in nutrition patterns and fitness.
Management of PCOS
PCOS is Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance that affects up to 20% of women of reproductive age. It is associated with an increased risk of developing hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Affecting one in every three Indian women, PCOS is an endocrinopathy that is surely but silently making its way into urban India. It's about time to take the first step towards stemming its progress; and it's crucial to act now.
The PHD PCOS programme is a scientifically-formulated, multi-layered plan to address the underlying cause of PCOS in order to better manage its many symptoms.
The four phases that take you through the programme segue into each other effortlessly, all in aid of a smooth transition for you.
